Adi Shapiro is the Winner of the Fourth Edition of the Femfestival 2025

AMAT - Accademia Musica Arte Teatro

AMAT is pleased to announce that the winner of the Fourth Edition of the Femfestival 2025 is Adi Shapiro with String Quartet – Devotion, which will be performed during the final event.

A special mention is awarded to Leonardo Falaschi – Elegia per due anime, in recognition of its expressive depth and artistic sensitivity.

The Femfestival, now in its fourth edition, is an international project by AMAT that embraces multidisciplinarity and dialogue, with the goal of promoting and enhancing the female contribution to global cultural life.
After its first two editions, which focused exclusively on female composers, AMAT has broadened its scope to include male contributions, always remaining faithful to the festival’s core mission: the pursuit of gender harmony and the celebration of women’s creative work.

Femfestival encourages collaboration across all communities to break down barriers and build a more just and cooperative society through creative thought and music.

The theme of this year’s edition centers on the historical and emotional relationship between foreign female artists and musicians and the city of Florence. Participants were invited to draw inspiration from the writings of Vernon Lee (pseudonym of Violet Paget, 1856–1935) and the music of Ethel Smyth (1858–1944), both of whom had profound personal and professional ties to Florence.
