The tour of the Unconventional Singers came to a close in New York, where from July 24 to 26 they presented three distinct a cappella programs, bringing back to the city that first welcomed them in 2022 all their energy and their unconventional vocal style.
The first evening, on July 24 at the Tillies Center, was dedicated to “VOX – A Vocal Journey Through Italian Music”, a journey through Italy’s musical heritage, in a cappella arrangements ranging from Renaissance madrigals to Verdi, from Morricone’s soundtracks to pop classics such as Volare and Azzurro. A concert that highlighted the variety and vitality of the Italian tradition, reinterpreted with irony and originality.
On July 25 and 26, in Long Island, the ensemble presented two different programs, each with its own character, exploring the international repertoire, a cappella and with piano accompaniment.
Three complementary evenings, united by a creative approach and by a use of the voice that continues to transcend conventional genre labels.
“We are truly happy and grateful for the opportunity to perform in New York again this year. After our experience at the Lincoln Center and in special, historically rich venues such as the Players’ Club, this year we had the honor of singing at the Tillies Center, with such a warm and engaged audience! A special thanks goes to Artistic Director Tom Dunn for welcoming our ‘Italian concert’, and of course to Lilia and Barry Bloom for their great support and for believing so firmly in us and in our project.”
The Unconventional Singers thus reaffirm their artistic journey, born in Florence during the pandemic and now recognized internationally as a group capable of profoundly innovating Italian singing and music.
