The “Decamerone musicale”, conceived by Amat, is a web series with ten live appointments during 2021, featuring the Unconventional Singers and the soloists of the Unconventional Orchestra (the UnO). Ours singers and musicians are a musical brigade that takes refuge in Amat’s head office to express their passion for music in peace and quiet, away from reality. Each time, in turn, a member of the brigade decides on the piece of music to be performed at the concert.
This idea was inspired by Boccaccio’s Decameron, where a group of ten young people take refuge outside Florence for ten days to escape the plague raging in the city, taking it in turns to recount one novella a day.
So far there have been two appointments of the Decameron: “Le lacrime della Chitarra. Tale for guitar, vocal ensemble and narrator. Execution of the Romancero gitano”, with music by Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco and text by Federico García Lorca (here to see the live broadcast), on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance; a second appointment with a light theme and a bizarre ending “Vita di coppia: istruzioni per l’uso”, with music by Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco and Luigi Dallapiccola and text by Michelangelo Buonarroti il Giovane (here to see the live broadcast).
